Palm Beach Restaurant Manager Gets Reprieve from Deportation

Deportation Proceedings

A Palm Beach restaurant manager may receive a much-needed reprieve from arrest and deportation proceedings from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Francisco Javier Gonzalez was notified on April 20, 2018, that his upcoming meeting with ICE officials had been canceled. It was widely expected that Gonzalez would be deported at the conclusion of that meeting or soon afterwards. The West Palm Beach immigration lawyer assigned to the Gonzalez case received a phone call on the day of the meeting informing him that it had been cancelled.

New Hope for Gonzalez

According to Richard Hujber, Gonzalez’s West Palm Beach immigration lawyer, ICE indicated that they are unlikely to pursue deportation proceedings against Gonzalez for the next 60 to 90 days. This offers a little breathing room for the restaurant manager, who is a well-known fixture at Pizza Al Fresco in Palm Beach. During this time period, Gonzalez and his lawyer will continue pursuing legal options that could allow Gonzalez to continue to live and work in the U.S. as he resolves his visa issues.

Issues Arising From Illegal Entry to U.S.

Gonzalez first entered the U.S. at the age of 15. He left briefly after graduating high school to visit his parents in Mexico. Upon his return, Gonzalez was informed that his visa was no longer valid. He was deported under an expedited order of removal and banned from returning to the U.S. for a period of five years. Gonzalez reentered the U.S. illegally within that five-year time frame. This single action led to his continuing issues with ICE.

The Importance of Expert Legal Representation

The Gonzalez case highlights the need for competent and experienced legal representation for all types of immigration cases. By enlisting the support and guidance of a qualified West Palm Beach immigration lawyer, Gonzalez has been able to navigate the complexities of ICE proceedings over the past few years. His attorney has been instrumental in protecting his rights and working to reach a settlement with ICE and other federal agencies on behalf of Gonzalez and his family.
